Konark Sun Temple, Odisha ☀️ The Konark Sun Temple is one of the most famous historical monuments in India and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located in Konark, Odisha , about 35 km from Puri. The temple was built in the 13th century by King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty. Architecture The temple is designed in the shape of a giant stone chariot of the Sun God, Surya. It has: 24 beautifully carved wheels 7 stone horses Detailed sculptures showing culture, music, dance, animals, and daily life The wheels of the temple also work like a sundial , showing time through the shadow of sunlight. Historical Importance Konark was an important center for religion, art, and architecture in ancient India. Although parts of the temple are damaged today, it still stands as a symbol of Odisha’s rich heritage and craftsmanship.
